Design District Bus Stop Design

Lumière is French for light. This design began with inspiration from Philipe Stark. The forms and patterns in his furniture designs influenced the design of this structure. Gothic art and architecture also inspired the design of this bus stop. “Lux Nova” meaning new light is what Abbot Suger used to describe stained glass. With this in mind a created the form of the bus stop, which is composed of elegant arches. The main frame and backing of this bust stop will be made of die cut metal with a pattern of circles that that are closer arranged towards the bottom of the structure to give a sense of a grounded form. These holes will create a light effect when light shines through them and the layer of tinted glass. This shadow and light effect will allow visitors to the bus stop to be part of a work of art created by natural light, negative space, and shadows.
